What is radon

Invisible, odourless, tasteless. The only way to know is to measure it.

Radon is a radioactive gas released naturally from the ground as uranium in rock breaks down. Outdoors, it dilutes. In a house, it seeps in through slab cracks, floor drains, sumps and joints, and builds up.

Health Canada recommends taking action when levels exceed 200 Bq/m³. Radon exposure is the leading cause of lung cancer in non-smokers.

How it works

We create a gentle suction under the slab. The gas leaves through the pipe, not through your basement.

  1. Diagnostics. Sub-slab communication testing to size the system, without needlessly pulling heated air out of the house.
  2. Sealed pipe. Grey Schedule 40 PVC DWV, secured with a bolted and sealed floor flange.
  3. Fan and discharge. Wall or rooftop discharge, with a permanent Code-compliant electrical outlet.
  4. Verification. A digital monitor is lent after installation so you can follow levels day by day.

Testimonials

In their own words

Kathy and I both wanted to express how happy we are following your remediation of our radon issue. I can't stress enough on how professional and friendly you all were, taking the time to listen to our concerns and explain everything along the way. I am much smarter today when it comes to radon thanks in large parts to you and your team. It's refreshing to see that there are still contractors out there who care about what they are doing and not just doing it for the money.

Andre A Laval, Qc

We had an excellent experience both with Marcel and with his son, after a lot of frustration withthe radon issue. He is the one who actually identified the source of the problem when others could not. Very professional, methodical, and also very reasonably priced. I recommend him to anyone in my area who has this problem, and that's quite a few people.

Kevin D Chelsea, Qc

We had a community meeting recently and we told everyone our story and passed out your cards, so don't be surprised if you get some calls. Our levels are great...it's now down to 28, after steadily decreasing since you installed the system. Quite a change from the 2300 Bq/m3 we measured before you came. It is a very great relief !

About

The person who trains the others comes to your home too

Solutions Radon MB has been working in radon testing and mitigation since early 2008, when Health Canada lowered its guideline from 800 to 200 Bq/m³. The head office is in Maniwaki, with a satellite office in Aylmer, Gatineau.

Founder Marcel Brascoupé was first certified by the National Radon Proficiency Program (NEHA-NRPP) in the United States, then helped bring that technology to Canada. He is a founding member of the Canadian Association of Radon Scientists and Technologists (CARST) and teaches courses in English and French across the country.

In the field, he works with Wayne Brascoupé. Questions are welcome, and answers come in plain language.

Best price. If a C-NRPP certified, fully insured competitor quotes you a lower price for equivalent products and services, Solutions Radon MB will beat it by $100.
